What we do

We offer a wide range of services. We can create content in the form of courses and if needed build a platform/website to offer that content to your visitors/students.

If you need to understand the difference between the different services you can find more information below

Our services

What it is. An eLearning course is an interactive piece of software written in HTML5 for the purpose of training. A user can view it with any web browser which makes it really easy to make available on your network, a USB drive or any data carrier really. A user can engage with the material and exams can be incorporated. It is the simplest and therefor cheapest method of delivering content to your students.

What it is not. Since the course has no database or website behind it all activities are local and transient. If a user closes the course nothing is saved. Results can therefore not be restored for a future learning session nor can a supervisor oversee progress of the students or acquired certificates be found.

What it is. When we have developed one or several courses for you and an LMS for these courses to operate in, we can take all work out of your hands. We will take care of hosting, server management, web application management, technical user support, the privacy officer, licences and monitoring. When we offer you a platform as a SaaS ( Software as a Service) all work and costs are included in the monthly service fee. You don’t need to do anything yourself to get your courses and LMS online.

What it is not. We will develop, own and run the LMS on your behalf and as such you don’t need to concern yourself with additional costs such as licencing, hosting or administrators and privacy officers. You only pay a one-time setup fee for the customization and a monthly fee depending on volume. These costs are always separate from course development. Essentially we will develop a separate platform just for you but there are no hidden costs or risks.

This is our most popular offering with a very flexible cost structure where we will take care of everything. For most clients we offer to lower the monthly costs in exchange for a small percentage for the revenue if you choose to sell through our developed LMS. That way the running costs will be migrated to a more variable structure making initial investments much smaller. We will work with you depending on your needs and adapt the cost structure to your budget.

Terminology explained

It can be confusing when providers use similar terms for the different thing or different terms for the same thing! Here below you can findhow we use the terminology involved

A custom eLearning content type with no connection to a system. Users can interact with the course, read content, answer questions, do exams but nothing is stored or made available for review. Neither is there any automation for providing certificates or check for conditions. The course is ‘as is’ and can be made available through any digital medium carrier.

Integrated courses are part of (and integrated in) the Managed Online Platform and each integrated course can contain one or several content types such as standalone courses, videos, text or downloadable content such as pdf files. By wrapping the different content types in an integrated course additional functions become possible. Think of creating conditions where a user is not allowed to start a lesson until a previous lesson is completed, storing progress on the completion of lessons, topics or exams, or providing certification upon passing or completing a course or lesson. Integrated courses are of a higher order than standalone courses.

Standalone content (courses, videos, audio etc) are wrapped in integrated courses which are wrapped (integrated) into a Managed Online Platform.

LMS stands for Learning Management System and is a further specialization of the more generic CMS or Content Management System. Both are basically websites created to publish content on a network so visitors can gain access to it.

The Managed Online Platform is an LMS backend system which can interact with the integrated courses and provide extra functionality such as a webshop, reporting or communication tools. The eLearning Content can technically provide output data but needs an LRS system to give this data to.

An LRS is a Learning Record Store which takes user interaction data from a course and stores it. From this data you can track user progress and calculate grades.

Tin Can or xAPI are two terms used for the same thing. Tin Can is the evolution of the older SCORM. They describe the communication between the eLearning Content and the LRS. These captured statements form the data that is stored in the LRS and consists of the user interaction with the eLearning Content.

To summarize: user interactions captured (conform Tin Can standards) are stored in an LRS, part of an LMS, all together forming one unified system which we offer under the name Managed Online Platform.

HTML5 is the most recent version of the Hypertext Markup Language and is used to describe a website. It is enhanced with:

  • CSS: Cascading Style Sheets to add styling to default makeup
  • JavaScript to allow things to happen.
We try to stay away from Flash and feel HTML5 offers great compatibility and user experience.

Consultancy is offered free by us with any service we provide but to a smaller extent also for free for those who want it. So if you are not sure about possibilities, requirements or technical implications make sure to contact us. We will always try to help you to where you need to be.

How our services relate

Content needs a website and a website needs a server. We run our own servers exclusively to service all our clients. With our ‘Managed Online Platform’ we will take care of both the website and the server and all the services required such as updates, licences, tech support and more. In this image you can quickly see the relationship between the course, the website and the server.
